CLUB NEWSLETTER for March 16, 2005

The BOD, or most of the club met with the Governor for an hour before the meal. Most other members joined us for nearly ˝ of that time. Governor Dick is a seasoned Rotarian who shared many of his personal experiences with us.

Our club was acknowledged as a good club but we all agree that we want more members to share the work load. Governor Dick directed us to Robbin Cabral as a new District membership committee person that is doing good things in other clubs. The District exists to help clubs. It is definitely in our best interest to be looking to Robbin in the near future.

The Governor spoke after dinner about things to do in Rotary outside of the club. We heard about Fellowships, which are groups of Rotarians with a common interest. He would like to see a yachting flotilla from the South Shore to the waters of Rhode Island . Maybe Jack will find time to get involved in that.  The Governor is a member of the’traveling and hosting Rotarians’ fellowship. He has participated in home exchanges and seen more than most of us! There is an RV Fellowship, a golf fellowship, and probably one for any other major interest you might have. The web sites off more insight on Fellowships.

The Queen remained elusive this week, so the money collects.

Donn met with the Town Administrator who appears to be amenable to our donating bike racks to the town. One is definitely wanted at the Police Station. Walter will contact the sculptor ASAP.

Sr. Dinner is tentatively scheduled for May 4th.

Yours in Rotary,

Janet
