CLUB NEWSLETTER for April 6, 2005

Attendance:Bilger, Heller, Mitchell, Nuboer, Rego, Schmitz, Sladens, Summers, Meston, Lew Burridge. Karen is on a date with her husband.

We bumbled along without our S.A.R. and no one had anything wise to say nor was any money lost to the queen. Happy and sad bucks go on…even without you, Bill. We did miss you though!

Please note that the Senior Dinner is ON for the 4th of May. Plan to be at St. Lukes about 5 pm to set up for a 6 pm dinner. Wine will be limited to 1 glass per guest and I will see that our insurance is in force. Alden & Bart are our wine stewards. We still need a health certificate from town hall and lottery tickets must be purchased (Carol/Donn), Ben has the placemats (we need them at the start of set up, Ben), and coordinating with Chef Paul for the meal and utensils is necessary so that we know what to buy. Table deco?

Bart reported on his meeting with the District’s Ankor Project. They want help with clean water for Cambodia neighborhoods. The standing District project on clean water is for Honduras . We will have to decide how to share our money. Bart feels strongly about Ankor rather than Honduras . More on that history later. It shall be discussed at the BOD meeting.

President-Elect Dietrich ran the remainder of the meeting informing us of his efforts to support club growth and effectiveness. He is meeting with Pam Giavanonini from Front Street Books to work with us on a Literacy Project. He is meeting with Donna Nuzzo-Mueller to get an Interact Club re-instituted at the High School, and he is again inviting advertiser from the phonebook to join us for an informational, thank you meal meeting. It is always such an exciting time to have the energy of a new President and the enthusiasm that comes from meeting other clubs at PETS and other District events. We are all with you, Dietrich!

Janet spoke briefly about the Rotary Foundation and we are beginning to understand that this is our own investment in world peace & understanding.

Yours in Rotary,
Janet
