CLUB NEWSLETTER for June 1, 2005

Attendance: PE Dietrich, Donn & Carol, Judy, Alden, Ben, Beatrice, Bart, Jack, Bill, Janet, Karen, Bob S., Jim M., Jim Blanchard, Maryann Cohan and guests:  Austin J. Crumpton (Pres.), Sam Hilliard (Sec.), and Bill Grace (VP), all future Interact officers. [They reported that Kerry Sorrenson will be the treasurer].

We have outgrown the sunroom!! It is official. Our house liaison (Bill) assures me that we will be in the larger space or that we will receive a phone call in advance. If we get a phone call, you will get one too! The installation and phonebook contracts are too important to squeeze in!

We were most surprised and pleased at the arrival of the new Interact officers at out meeting. Maryann and her efforts have more than paid for our Mariner Ad, I think. These energetic young men and their classmates will be a fantastic help to us in our ad sales and phonebook distribution, pancake breakfast preparations, and interfacing with the High School in general. We also look forward to Suzanne’s rejoining us as their sponsor.

P.E.D. handed out his goals and objectives for 05/06. The budget, by-law changes and phonebook will be discussed in detail at the BOD meeting on Tuesday morning. Your attendance is invited and you will get attendance credit for participation. If you plan to attend, please read this document and bring it with you for the discussion. (Promises to be lively!)

Bart received a call from the Chamber of Commerce because we have not yet reserved St. Luke’s for the Pancake Breakfast during Heritage Days. Bill promises to take care of this immediately.

The motion to make SRF funds available as collateral for our phonebook project was passed unanimously. Let the book begin!

Bart reported on the District’s Cambodia work, including our back-pat. We will be hearing more as he is co-chair of the committee. WE pay the dentist, and there are plans to address water, literacy and hunger.

Your in Rotary,  Janet
