Weekly News/Highlights/Comments

Last Week’s meeting was called to order at about 6:40 by President Walter. Attending were Jack Borror, Beatrice Hurwich, Aalden Mitchell, Judith Rego, Donald and Carole Sladen and your editor, Ben Summers. Also attending was guest and potential new member Sandi Schipul.

Since there was a quorum for the executive board present, we held a meeting by the board. Much discussion, again, about the Scituate Rotary Foundation. Same questions were asked and many were not answered by those attending because e did not know! The members of the foundation are Bart Nuboer, Janet Schmitz and your editor. As noted above, Bart and Janet did not attend. They are due back on September 11^th. A welcome back dinner will be held at the Barker Tavern on Tuesday, September 14^th.

Jack informed us that Jack Christiansen, builder of a boat which he then sold is available to speak to the club. Not date was specified, however…The South Shore Rotary Council, on your editor’s motion cancelled its monthly meeting on September 15^th at its August meeting.

Walter was also informed (after he arrived) that the Xmas Tree material will be sent to him, or distributed at the Council’s Sept. 22^nd meeting which our Prez will attend.

Incidentally, Walter, Jack and Ben said they will attend the September 1ar Rotary Foundation & Membership seminars (jointly held by District 7890 & 7950 in Sturbridge from 9 a.m. to noon. We should be back here in time to attend the meeting at the House of Correction, I hope…

The only real action taken August 25^th was to name Walter Driscoll an Honorary Member. Congratulations.
