NEWSLETTER FOR SEPTEMBER  29, 2004

Attendance: Nuboer, Schmitz, Heller, Coulter, Summers, Borror, Sladen’s, Bilger, Rego, Steve and Amy Silverman (ADG).

Mitchell’s are still traveling and Beatrice reports having been ill. Loic where are you? You are missed and we need you.

Rotary news:

H$S$ highlights – Janet is now gainfully employed again. (In case someone thinks contributing to LCC is a conflict of interest – the Life Care Center has been exceedingly generous with us over the past 3 years. Every year they give us butter and syrup for the pancake breakfast and get us a discount and donations from Sysco. They also contributed generously to our hotdog adventure for St. Patrick’s Day. And lets not forget their contributions for the Walk for Brian a few years back. They are our neighbors and need some help in return). Ben is unhappy that things change. They always do, it seems. Sorry, Ben. It is not personal. Judy had a great vacation on the cape and generally all are content…

Steve Silverman dropped in to see us. We cancelled him in August or Sept. and he decided we needed a visit. Very nice to have you and Amy again, and thank you for your suggestions and encouragement.

The Bilger Fine Stein is missing. At Pier 44? Ben, maybe you can ask about that when you visit.

Our speaker was an extremely interesting and creative J. Winfield Currie of Norwell. Jane has written the novel “Beyond all Reason” and is doing all of her own marketing/promoting as well as publishing. And in her spare time she works full time at Joseph’s hardware in Marshfield .

This is a novel, not history, she says, but it is historical. We are promised passion, action, the opportunity to see it all as an outsider and a bit of fantasy. We can find it at the Hanover Mall and The Front Street Book Store. For this artist, teacher, writer, retailer let read and recommend this brave deed. This is the first of a trilogy and the ending is already in Jane’s head! What fun!!

If you are bringing additional people Wed. eve. let me know so we get the larger room.

Yours in Rotary,
Janet Schmitz
