The 32nd Installation of Officers was a reunion of old friends, members, family and new friends. From the music by Whispering Bill Coulter, to the beautiful centerpieces, to the attractive programs with President Bart's smiling face, to the excellent meal of prime rib and seafood newberg - all contributed to this special event.

The guests came from many distant miles. Bart's children, Caroline, Elizabeth and Franz, came from the North and West. Pastor Schipul and Sandy came from  Southbury, CT. Paul and Bobbi Welch from Weymouth and Angela Ponte from a real estate sale in Quincy. Governor Ann Williams from Osterville, Sue Cellucci from Whitman, Joe Cerra from Pembroke, Karen and Joe Kelly from Peggotty Beach and Dr. Brad Parsons from up the street. Loic Meston was circling somewhere over Cleveland when his Detroit flight was delayed.

Nice to see the Hendersons again. Francine and Art Kern, Suzanne Kavanagh, Joyce Coulter, Matt MacDonald all arrived in improved health. The medical profession has made a great contribution to the well-being of our members and friends. We missed Jed Fitzgerald and wish him well.

The Royal couple, Past President Janet and President Bart, beamed at the head table as Alden Mitchell took us through a brief history of the club's 33 years. Master historian and legendary wit, Alden put it this way, "Things happen when you show up." And that's what happened in President Janet's year --- she kept showing up and great things happened. She was focused, motivated and energized, resulting in increased membership and widened vision.

It was a night of awards: to Dietrich Bilger a plaque and new Fine Stein to honor his fund raising ability. To Ben Summers for his work on publicity and to Sue Katz for ending the fiscal year on a plus note. Sue Cellucci received a special award for her continuing contribution with the web site and desktop publishing expertise. Were not those the most beautiful programs you've ever seen? Walter Heller received a "Service Above Self" award for his behind the scenes assistance and membership commitment. I'm sure Bart should have received an award, but it would have been called nepotism. Three Paul Harris Fellows were given --- the highest Rotary award --- to Ben Summers, Walter Heller and Sue Katz.

Newly sworn-in President, Bart Nuboer, spoke of his two priorities for the 2003-2004 year: international service and incorporating the Marshfield Club. He promised to underwrite contributions to a Cambodia orphanage and hospital and brought tears to the eyes of Gov. Ann Williams. "THIS IS ROTARY IN ACTION!," she said. It makes you proud to be a member of the Scituate Rotary Club.

The Phone book committee reminds you to call those businesses that you contacted in May. If you have A-C, D-G, H-L, M-N, O-R, S-T, U-W, call the businesses and remind them that the deadline is July 15th. Bring your list to the next meeting and check with Bart to see if your ads have already been received.

See you next week for Club Night with our new President and the Installation of Beatrice Hurwitz.
