Guests were Linda
Borror, Carol Sladen, Georgia Talcott, our Interactor at the High School.
Two visiting Rotarians—Erika from Hingham and Jim Peterson and his friend
Leslie from Benton harbor, MI. They have been on a 3 month sailing odyssey
from Annapolis to everywhere and stopped in Scituate Harbor to see the
sights.
Important celebration dates: Bob Newhart age 74, Raquel Welch age 63,
and Alden and Connie’s 60th wedding anniversary. They are away enjoying
some family time, but we’ll catch him in fine time.
Happy/Sad Bucks from Bart, for his new adopted grandchild (the 7th)
coming from NYC on Friday, Ben for seeing his grandchildren in Stockbridge
after a long hiatis (withdrawal symptoms), Walter Heller sharing his
scratch ticket winnings, and Jim Peterson thankful for a friendly Rotary
break on terra firma . So what’s up with Walter winning 3 times in a
row? We’ll keep him in bar next week til after the ticket is pulled.
It’s nice that he’s sharing.
President Bart wants notice of those going to White’s in Westport on
9/20 and any travelers to Bermuda in November—they should be cleaned
up by then from hurricane Fabian. Also, he’s set up a lunch Wednesday
at Jaimie’s, Marshfield, to determine interest in a Marshfield Club,
and getting some serious response. All members are invited to come join
him. Watch cable tv in Marshfield on Tuesday 7:30-8:30, Scituate on
Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:00.
It was nice to see Georgia Talcott who is our connection with the high
School. She is interested in setting up a RotarAct Club there, and that
would be a fine feather in our cap. Walter Driscoll was our previous
RotarAct person.
The Board met this week and reports the following fund raising: Phone
book gross $56,000 Pancake Gross $2400. What a fantastic bit of work
on behalf of the phone book works, and pancake flippers. They are interested
in scheduling a walkathon for October for further contributions. They
are also working on finding aTwin Club using our plethora of international
connections in Holland(Bart), Germany(Dietrich), Hong Kong and France(Loic).
Many good wishes for a comfortable recovery for Joe Goodrow who had
some surgery this week. You might call it minor, but it looks major.
Please think about the health screening, go to lunch in Marshfield on
Wednesday, and BE THERE at the Jenkins School on Saturday, 11:00 – 2:00.
Next week is a visit from Sue O’Brien and her poetry.
