Guest speaker: Lisa Fenton of People for Active Transportation & Health. Happy-Sad Bucks: Bart, Janet, Judy and Dietrich (attended Rotary Foundation meeting previous week); Joe (for time spent with 3 grandchildren at a timeshare in Mashpee); Sue Katz (avoided being hit by falling object from truck in front of her car); Sue Kavanagh (glad to be home after business travel to California and Rochester, NY, where she visited with relatives); Alden (made it through another week); Jack (on the road again and exhibited at shows successfully); Dietrich (for wrong answers on questionnaire at the Foundation dinner; he was coached by Cohasset Rotarian who had the wrong answers!); Janet (thanked Alden for sending thank you notes to Phone Book advertisers). Fines: Janet (for not offering Happy Bucks for receiving certificate for very high percentage of promised sustaining members at Rotary Foundation meeting.) Members attending last week's meeting each drew the name of a student at Cushing School with his/her request for a gift. See you next Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Barker Tavern for the party-dinner for staff and students. Mark Fenton, the scheduled speaker, was unable to attend and asked his wife Lisa to substitute. She discussed People for Active Transportation and Health's efforts to construct a bike and walking trail along the Greenbush MBTA right-of-way. Mark was in Wheeling, West Virginia filming a PBS movie on Walking Trails, America's Walking. Lisa told us the MBTA is studying PATH's proposal for the walking/biking trail. A 25 foot wide space for about 3.5 miles through Scituate is needed. This would include landscaping, fencing and the paved surface. Scituate Board of Health, selectmen and Planning Board have approved the trail. Now they need the OK from the Conservation Commission. Federal funds are available. It is estimated that up to $1.25 million is needed. Educating the public is part of PATH's work and they seek Rotary assistance for this. Ben
