Meeting Highlights: February 19, 2003 Around the Chapter Attendance
last week: Janet, Jack & Linda, Ben, Sue Katz, Bart, Alden, Don &
Carole, Joe, Roger and Judy. Happy/Sad
Bucks from: Judy (had a Storm Day off, playing with her puppy); Janet (Sue
Kav’s son injured in auto accident and Sue was also involved in
auto accident, arrived home too late to attend meeting); Carole
Sladen (kissed by Jack); Bart (started meeting late); Sue Katz (won $62
last week in raffle, donated all of it to the Club, and Sad that Audrey
attended her last meeting a week ago); Ben (will miss the next 2 meetings,
going on a Disney Cruise with entire family). Missed
Dietrich again so there were very few fines. Walter was at the South Shore
Rotary Council meeting. Our scheduled speaker was unable to attend. Her
damaged car was still being repaired and was not ready to drive. She may
be at Club Night on March 12th when we honor Al Lind. Alden
spoke briefly about the possibility of holding breakfast meetings as a way
to attract new business members. The Club held such meetings when it was
organized about 34 years ago. Cohasset
Rotary will hold its annual 10K Road Race by the Sea on April 6; That’s
6.2 miles. Falmouth
Rotary is selling golf balls with the Polio Plus logo on them as a fund
raiser. They’ll sell us a dozen for $12 and we can re-sell them for $15
to $20 per dozen. I
voted for Abraham Gordon (first choice), Daniel Mooers (2nd)
and William Cadwallader (3rd) as candidates for the nominating
committee to choose the 2005-2006 R.I. president this coming year. Thanks
to President Janet, Scituate Rotary is getting known around District 7950.
The Fall 2002 issue of Gov. Ann Williams’ Newsletter included an item
about Scituate’s donation of a five-parameter patient monitor to Dr.
Dennis Snyder, chairman of the Medical Missions for Children, Inc. Editorial
Note: I wonder why the Newsletter cannot be sent to every member in the
District? Probably because of the cost of postage. Is it true that enough
copies for each of our members is sent to our president? Just asking. See
you at the March 12th Club Night to honor Al Lind. It’s
Spouse Night. Ben
