Meeting Highlights: August 2, 2002 Around The Chapter Since this issue went to press last Friday, and the Board of Directors meeting was held this past Monday, August 5th, most of what transpired will be discussed at Wednesday's Club Night meeting. Scituate Rotary, which cancelled its meeting last Wednesday so our members could attend the annual Clambake which we were invited to by Hingham Rotary the following evening, had only five officers and two spouses in attendance: Janet & Bart Nuboer, Jack & Linda Borror, Ben & Renee Summers and Walter Heller showed up. Why did we vote to cancel our own meeting? Did we want an official reason not to attend? I thought there would be more than five officers/directors looking forward to attending the Clambake. I was wrong. You missed eating two (2) soft shell lobsters, sweet corn, steamed clams (all you could eat), fresh salad, macaroni salad, potato salad, coleslaw, cake and watermelon. And only $25 per person. What a deal. We missed you, if you're name was not mentioned above. We, Scituate Rotary, seem to be invited by our sponsor, Hingham Rotary, several times a year to attend their dinner meetings at the South Shore Country Club. Just wondering: When was the last time Scituate invited Hingham to attend our dinner meetings? Have we invited Rhode Island to return our visit to them yet? Just wondering! Ask Janet and Bart to tell you about their cruising with friends from the U.K. along the New England coast last week... Thanks, Walter, for the use of the IBM typewriter to compose the last few newsletters. My Alder machine broke down and the repairman, after three attempts, declared it way beyond repair! I sent a note to the distributor in Union, NJ to confirm if that was true, un-repairable! I'm waiting for a reply... By the way, I'm also using the IBM as my writer at the office. When I was ready to use my computer, it also broke down and is now being used by my typesetter (after repairs) because hers also broke down! Actually, one of our honorary members, Assistant Dist. Governor Paul Welch, and his wife also attended the Clambake... See you on August 7th Ben
Summers The following fines/fees have been voted by the Board of Directors and announced at a meeting last month:
