Meeting Highlights: September 18, 2002 Around The Chapter Jack Borror wanted to attend last week's meeting, but he is recuperating at home following triple by-pass surgery. He was mentioned in our prayer and we hope to see him soon. Happy Bucks from Janet, Bill (whose wife was taken to S.S. Hospital complaining of pains; she's O.K.), Sue Katz, Alden (spent time with his daughter from IL on Cape Cod) and George (who was our guest, invited by Dietrich, who was not able to attend). George Bohsack is from Marshfield Hills. Hope to see him again as a new member. Guest speaker Ilana marks spoke about her trip around the world with her husband and children. A native of Capetown, South Africa, she has also lived in London and Jerusalem. She had copies of her book, The G-String Theory. It is about her trip. She had received invitations via e-mail from people in Hawaii, New Zealand and India to come visit and spend time with them. She had gone to India to attend a wedding, among other reasons. She attended an Ashram there, too. Taxi cab drivers there seem to be playing "chicken" with bus drivers and those excursions were scary at times. They drive wherever there is space on crowded streets, on either side of the road. Ilana told about being approached by a woman with a basket. When it was opened, a cobra jumped up to her face, but did not touch her. When she returned home, she had an accident, broke a bone and took that as a sign to slow down. That's when she began writing about her travels. The directors had earlier voted to purchase a Heart Patient Monitor machine. Pat Henderson has ordered it for delivery to her in October. It is lightweight and portable and is a multi-parameter recorder. It will be given to Dr. Dennis Snyder at the $1 million dollar dinner at Pat's on October 23rd. He will carry it with him when he goes to Guatemala, Asia and Russia as a member of Medical Missions for Children Overseas. Audrey won the raffle but did not pick the Queen of Hearts. Those who attended last week's meeting were given Rotary logo decals to be placed on auto windows. Ben Summers, Editor, 781-878-4540 From the President Just a quick reminder to bring food for the Food Pantry to Club Night. Also, I will not be able to attend Club Night, but would like to remind members to be prepared to write a formal invitation to one person to attend an upcoming meeting. Yours
